The Ferrari Testarossa is a sports car that was built from 1984 to 1996. Today, well-preserved examples in condition 2 are traded for 100,000 euros, Ferrari Testarossa in condition 1 even for 139,000 euros. The Ferrari Testarossa (type F110) is a 12-cylinder mid-engined sports car that went into production in 1984 as the successor to the Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer. Designed by Pininfarina, the car was originally produced from 1984 to 1991.
The original Testarossa was revised in 1991 and appeared as the 512 TR. The output of the 4.9-litre engine was increased to 315 kW (428 hp); this increase in power was mainly achieved by the modified cylinder heads with larger valves, the modified exhaust system and the new airboxes. Externally, the 512 TR stands out from the Testarossa primarily in the design of the front. Instead of the continuous parallel grille, it is now trapezoidal and adopts the design line of the 348 tb. At the rear, the raised section on the engine cover is flatter and has an additional cooling slot; the perforated metal strips on the two fins of the bonnet are missing and the rear apron forms a surround for the exhaust pipes. It was built 2261 times until 1994.
In the 1980s and 1990s, few cars had such an appeal to the stars of pop and rock as the Ferrari Testarossa and its successor, the 512 TR. With their overly dramatic style and extreme performance, these iconic models represented the crème de la crème of the super sports car genre in decades characterised by excess and intense self-expression.
The appeal of the Ferrari Testarossa and 512 TR models has soared in recent years as collectors not only appreciate their cult status, but also find them awe-inspiring to drive and own. Few cars make such a bold statement on the road.
